The Manhattan

Century City, Cape Town

The Manhattan is a 15-storey luxury residential/hotel building with restaurant, conference facility and office space at ground level. The development also includes a ‘tail’ of three storey townhouse units along the canal edge. The tower is designed at a knuckle point on the corner of an urban block overlooking the Century City Grand Canal. The apartment units are located over a multi-level parking facility, which raises the units up from ground level and maximises the views over the canal and to Table Mountain in the South and Table Bay in the west. The considered use of exposed concrete and face brick elements creates a unique language which set a precedent that was carried through in many of the future developments in the precinct.
